15 hours, 25 minutes flying time from Los Angeles to Hong Kong. Thankfully we had a lengthy layover once we arrived - enough to spend a little time in the city. My uncle suggested we take the train from the airport to Kowloon Bay... and I'm sorry, but this is the first thing I thought of when he said "Kowloon Bay."
Win.
We walked along the bay for a while, walking past the Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsu, equivalent to Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
We also walked through the shops at The Peninsula, one of the fanciest hotels I've ever seen. How fancy?
We walked around the city for a few hours, which was particularly wonderful after spending so much time sitting still on the plane.
We left in the early evening to catch our flight - about 7 hours of flying time more, with just one more brief stop in Bangkok. Unfortunately we didn't have as much time there, otherwise I could have fulfilled another pop culture reference destination wish:
Next stop: Sri Lanka.
